NATCA GA staff continues to work with leadership, members, and staff in Congress to advocate for federal employee pay raises. They also take an active role in federal employee coalitions that support federal employee pay raises. This term "116 th Congress" applies to the session of Congress, which is comprised of the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate, which will last until Jan. 3, 2021. This session will coincide with the third and fourth years of President Trump's current term. Political Breakdown Democrats control the House, and Republicans control the Senate. Below is the final tally for each chamber: • House: 234 Democrats, 200 Republicans • Senate: 53 Republicans, 47 Democrats/Independents • Uncalled: 1 House race (CA-21) New Members of Congress Members newly elected to Congress have been in Washington for two weeks of New Member Orientation. There will be many new faces in Congress, and NATCA GA staff has been meeting with many of the new members and plans to visit all of their offices on the first day they are sworn in with information to introduce them to NATCA and begin building new relationships. New Leadership When Congress is sworn-in the first week of January, the Democrats will be in control of the House, while Republicans will be in control of the Senate. Below is the roster of the newly- elected leadership positions in each chamber. These positions will need to be ratified on the floor of the House and Senate, respectively, once the new Congress comes into session in January. • House Democratic Leadership o Speaker of the House: Rep.
