MEDIA RELATIONS
Government Shutdown (Dec. 22, 2018-Jan. 25, 2019): During the recent 35-day government
shutdown, NATCA's media outreach efforts led to an unprecedented level of media and public
interest in our Union, aviation safety, and our represented aviation safety professionals. Over
the course of the shutdown, we undertook a massive media relations campaign to tell the
stories of our members in every part of the country. As a result of our efforts, we were included
in widespread coverage from both national and local media outlets. Two links below provide a
sense for the breadth and scope of the media coverage:
• Press clippings from all sources: Please click here. (NOTE: This list is extensive, but not
yet fully complete, as we continue to add stories to it as we locate them. Those which we
have chronicled on this linked Google doc are listed by region alphabetically, and by
state alphabetically within each region.)
