A new year brings new challenges. Deploying a new system, planning training, and getting adaptations correct are all part of the new year. In addition, Advanced Electronic Flight Strips (AEFS) has become front and center once again now that LAS has chosen June 2020 to start adaptation and training. This will run in parallel to the TFDM initial deployment at PHX. Resources will be key to ensuring each event is completed on time. Initial talks with LAS have started and a meeting is being set for early March to discuss all aspects of AEFS and support needed from the facility to ensure success. Part of the TFDM team attended the software build 5.7 load and testing at PHX for AEFS the week of Jan. 13. With the successful installation and testing, CLT and CLE will both transition to AEFS 5.7 software in February. The same week, Mr. Rose attended a leadership meeting in Washington, D.C., with the TFDM PO, and attended a Human Factors Workgroup (HFWG) in Gaithersburg, Md. During the leadership meeting, schedule of deployment and software were the topics most discussed. We are still working towards an on-time deployment in June for PHX, with the understanding that software at this point may or may not be ready. Of course, if the software is not ready, we will not deploy. The HFWG discussed strip bay behavior and finally agreed on how to present the information to the controller. We worked on Build 2 Traffic Management Initiatives (TMI) use as well and how to mark Electronic Flight Strips (EFS). The week of Jan. 6 was spent in Atlantic City, N.J., for testing. SMEs Brian Sparks (CLT) and Kevin Canipe (AUS) participated in addition to Mike Moynihan from the terminal CHI team. New discrepancy reports were written on the stability of the system which the vendor is looking into. Mr. Rose met with Anu Shreedaran (ART 114 TDLS) to work on testing of TDLS/TFDM in Oklahoma City and the WJHTC. We discussed with Louis Caggiano (NATCA TFDM) how to improve the testing process by bringing lessons learned from ERAM and STARS. We are looking to streamline the process of testing and keep folks more engaged. The training team was in Syracuse, N.Y., working with Saab on training materials. They also attended the adaptation kickoff meeting in Atlantic City, N.J., with members from PHX and CLE in attendance. Bridget Brazelton will have more information below. Mr. Rose also worked with AJT to secure more full-time reps from the Ops Team to help with deployment and Build 2 software design and review we should have more info next month. On the deployment side of the house, TFDM deployment lead Nate Miller (MDW) worked with CLT on their final layout and number of monitors for the facility. With 10 Pre-Site surveys (PSS) and three IOCs scheduled for this year, we will be busy to say the least. TFDM Training Update Submitted by Bridget Brazelton (DEN) - The training team met in Syracuse, N.Y., during the reporting period for a Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) with Saab. The meeting provided time for the training team to ask system
