We are pleased to come together to honor the recipients of the 18th annual Archie League Medal of Safety Awards and celebrate how they – along with NATCA's other members – work day in and day out to ensure the safety of our National Airspace System (NAS). For the sixth year, we will also present the Region X Commitment to Safety Award. Each of our award winners faced a unique situation in which their ability to think quickly and remain calm under pressure was tested. This summer, there have been many news accounts describing the challenges the global aviation system has faced as air travel in our post-pandemic world has returned to normal levels. Despite these myriad challenges, the safety of our NAS has never been questioned. This ever-present commitment to safety by NATCA's members is exemplified by these members who are receiving our Archie League Medal of Safety and our Region X Commitment to Safety Award. Named after the first air traffic controller – Archie League – these awards honor the absolute best examples of the core functions of the professions that NATCA represents. These 2022 Archie League Award winners demonstrate the unique skills, mindset, training, and experience of our Union's members to positively influence the events under our control. To our award winners and all the other NATCA members nominated for 2022 awards, congratulations on a job well done! And to all our NATCA members who nominated these deserving individuals, thank you for your commitment to this program and to our profession.
