8 NATIONAL AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS ASSOCIATION Jennifer L. Homendy Chair, National Transportation Safety Board NATCA is thrilled to welcome back Jennifer L. Homendy, Chairwoman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), to the main stage at Communicating for Safety 2025. As one of the nation's most influential voices in transportation safety, Chairwoman Homendy has earned a reputation for pairing bold advocacy with practical solutions — always with the goal of protecting the public and holding industry and government accountable. As the NTSB's chief executive and administrative officer, she leads a team of more than 440 professionals investigating every civil aviation accident in the U.S., as well as major events in other transportation modes. Her leadership ensures that the NTSB's recommendations drive real change, strengthening safety across aviation, rail, transit, marine, roadway, pipeline, and even commercial space operations. Since joining the NTSB in 2018, Homendy has been unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate under both Presidents Trump and Biden, a testament to her bipartisan credibility. She has championed modernizing safety systems, prepared for emerging technologies, and worked to ensure the U.S. maintains the world's safest airspace. Her aviation work includes championing stronger oversight of revenue passenger-carrying operations, such as parachute jump flights and sightseeing tours, after personally investigating multiple tragedies. Chairwoman Homendy's impact extends well beyond aviation. She has been at the forefront of safety initiatives involving advanced air mobility, unmanned aircraft systems, automated vehicles, and clean energy innovations like hydrogen power and high-voltage lithium-ion batteries. With a career spanning more than two decades in public service, including key roles on Capitol Hill, in transportation labor, and as a proud union member, Homendy's advocacy is rooted in protecting workers, passengers, and the traveling public. She is also a trained hazardous materials responder, a private pilot ground school graduate, and an avid cyclist and runner, fueling her personal commitment to safety in every mode of transportation. When Chairwoman Homendy takes the CFS stage, expect a compelling, informed, and candid discussion about the challenges and opportunities ahead for aviation safety, the lessons learned from recent investigations, and how collaboration across government, industry, and labor will keep the NAS the safest in the world.
