It is a great privilege to recognize the outstanding recipients of the 21st annual Archie
League Medal of Safety Awards and the ninth annual Region X Commitment to Safety
Awards. These honors represent the highest level of achievement in our profession,
and tonight we celebrate the remarkable NATCA members whose actions exemplify
what it means to protect the National Airspace System. Their skill, dedication, and
calm under pressure reflect the very best of who we are.
Safety is paramount for NATCA and our members. In addition to being a strong and
thriving labor union, NATCA is an aviation safety organization. Maintaining the
highest levels of safety and professionalism are some of the core tenets to NATCA
membership. Tonight's award recipients embody those principles, exemplifying our
Union's commitment to safety.
The Archie League and Region X awards are given on a yearly basis to NATCA
members who react instinctively to unforeseen situations. Tonight's winners responded
to difficult situations with exceptional skill and professionalism, a hallmark of our
profession.
For the entire National Executive Board, Mick and I would like to congratulate each
award winner, and all of the members who were nominated by our Union brothers and
sisters. You should all be extremely proud of your accomplishments.
