13 NEW ENGLAND NEW ENGLAND REGION REGION Lipkin-Moore credits his trainers, who provided important guidance about this complex airport — lessons that proved invaluable that evening. "I was told by my trainers from the beginning that you can never let your guard down at this airport. Years later, now I see why," he recalls. "Staying disciplined — and scanning at the right place at the right time — is what put me in position to catch the mistake while it could still be fixed." Boston Logan's intersecting runways and complex layout require constant vigilance from controllers. Lipkin-Moore's skill, knowledge, experience, and impeccable scanning, and quick recognition of an unexpected takeoff roll prevented a potentially catastrophic runway incursion. Congratulations to the 2026 New England Region Archie League Medal of Safety Award recipient: Josh Lipkin-Moore! By Shannon Lyman Bradley ATCT (BDL)
