ADS-B information to automatically tag equipped
vehicles on controllers' displays, reducing the
opportunity for misidentification. Vehicles equipped
with ADS-B are required to meet a higher standard of
accuracy due to the nature of surface operations.
ADS-B IS A CORNERSTONE NEXTGEN TECHNOLOGY
Leveraging ADS-B will result in increases in safety
and efficiency. Controllers and users alike can
expect remarkable changes in their environments
as additional capabilities continue to develop based
upon this foundational technology. Aircraft equipage
continues to grow steadily, but the pace needs to
increase if there is any hope of reaching the stated
goal of January 1, 2020. ADS-B will transform the air
traffic profession by providing accurate, robust, and
reliable position information.
