TUESDAY, MARCH 3, 2015 NATCA DAILY DISPATCH 5 PANEL PREVIEWS Advancing Safety in the Aviation Industry Through Voluntary Reporting Panel Discussion Advancing Safety in the Aviation Industry Through Voluntary Reporting Rio Pavilion Ballroom • 11:30 a.m. Aviation Weather Panel Discussion Aviation Weather Rio Pavilion Ballroom • 1:50 p.m. Today at 1:50 p.m., the panel on aviation weather will convene on the main stage. The panelists plan to cover the effect weather has on aircraft and on air traffic control, a pilot's perspective during a flight with weather, weather reroutes, flight planning when weather is expected, hazardous weather, aircraft safety, deviations, and more. NATCA NSC Chair Steve Hansen will moderate this panel along with NATCA Reloaded Committee member Jenn Van Rooy. Panelists include Reed Timmer, Meteorologist and Extreme Storm Chaser; Keith Gordon, Director of Aviation for Flynn-Gallagher Associates and NBAA; Marc Henegar, Air Traffic Services Group, ALPA; Matt Tucker, NATCA National Weather Rep; Andy Marosvari, Professional Standards Rep, NATCA NSC; Tony Smith, ATCSCC FacRep, NATCA; Greg Byus, ATCSCC Acting Air Traffic Manager, ATO; and Kim Stover, Acting Director of Operations, Central Service Area South, ATO. NATCA is excited to present a dynamic panel, Advancing Safety in the Aviation Industry Through Voluntary Reporting, today at 11:30 a.m. in the Rio Pavilion Ballroom. Mike Blake, VSRP Rep, NATCA National Safety Committee (NSC), and Dr. Hassan Shahidi, Director of Aviation Safety, MITRE Corporation, will be moderating the panel. The panel will cover what aviation safety action programs throughout the NAS have accomplished with voluntary reporting. The panel will focus on the many positive outcomes, future challenges, and new innovative initiatives utilizing the data collected through these programs. Panelists include Peggy Gilligan, Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety, FAA; Joseph Teixeira, Vice President, Safety & Technical Training, ATO; Mike Schilz, Safety Information Analysis Programs, ALPA; and Steve Hansen, Chairman, NATCA NSC.
