Every year, hundreds of NATCAvists descend on Capitol Hill to represent their union brothers and sisters and to help educate policymakers on aviation safety and federal employee issues of the day. During NiW, members get the chance to make their voices heard. For most of you, that means face-to-face meetings with members of Congress and their staffs. For many of you, this will be your first time! To help prepare you for those meetings, we are excited to welcome back Bob McLean, a 35-year veteran of the communications industry. Bob has been a lobbyist on Capitol Hill since 1988. He opened his own firm, REM Association Services, in 1996 and has extensive experience teaching grassroots activism for unions, public employees, and organizations such as the International Association of Fire Fighters and the National Conference on Public Retirement Systems. Bob has been helping train our members at NiW for over 15 years! This year, he's returning to provide in-depth training for first- timers on how to maximize your time on the Hill. Bob will go over how to incorporate your unique knowledge as a federal employee in the aviation field and help hone your message into a concise and convincing "ask." He will teach you how to use your experience as an aviation safety professional to convey the importance of stable federal funding to keep our NAS as safe and efficient as possible. Armed with the skills Bob will impart and your expertise, you will walk into your meetings with confidence and authority! Buses will depart the Hyatt starting at 6:15 p.m. and will run in a continuous loop between the event and the hotel about every 30 minutes through the end of the event. 7
