some pretty significant problems with the digitizer for
the ASR 8. Communication and collaboration are the
reasons that SAV was successful."
"The installation of the STARS system at Harrisburg
Tower helps to ensure that the U.S. remains the safest,
most efficient, air traffic system in the world," said Phil
Gesumaria, NATCA Facility Representative at Harrisburg
Tower. "The enhancements and tools the system offers
our controllers will enhance safety and will allow
aircraft to move through the airspace system easier.
The collaborative effort of labor and management, on
all levels, made this a smooth transition."
Fresno (FAT), Calif., and Springfield, Mo. (SGF), also
got in on the STARS success story since our last TAMR
report in March, completing installations marked by
collaboration and teamwork.
FAT went fully operational on STARS on April 18, after
more than 18 months of planning and prep work.
Contributing factors to the successful event included
the flexibility of the controllers on the midnight shift and
crews from tech ops and engineering services.
