In the ATO, our people are the reason why we run the safest, most efficient system in the world. We have highly - skilled professionals that perform a wide variety of tasks – controlling air traffic, repairing and m aintaining systems, and providing operational support, among many others. Our people also work in many different settings ranging from offices to air traffic facilities to remote locations across the nation. I want to offer a special thanks to our folks th at will be working over the Labor Day holiday. As part of the FAA's Workforce of the Future initiative, we're working to recruit and develop our employees. This year, we've hired more than 1,400 new air traffic controllers, and we plan to hire 6,000 more o ver the next five years to keep pace with expected attrition and air traffic growth. I want to thank our labor partners for working with us to accomplish our mission to build the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world. We're partnering in man y ways, like on voluntary safety reporting programs, Partnership for Safety, fatigue management, and campaigns like Turn Off, Tune In and Fully Charged. We're also working together on TAMR, Data Communications, NAS Voice System and many other modernization efforts. Labor - management collaboration has been instrumental to our success, and we're doing things to enhance this process. For instance, we've conducted interest - based communication and collaborative workgroup training for more than 2,500 employees, in cluding labor reps and managers, over the past four years. We also have facilitators in Air Traffic and coaches in Tech Ops that help labor and management apply collaborative principles to resolve issues. Let's continue to work together so we can be an eve n greater organization. Our nation's labor movement worked to secure fairer wages, safe working conditions, and the job benefits many of us enjoy today. This Labor Day, when we step into our homes, cars, and other places, let's think about the people who b uild these things. Let's think about those who prepare our food, stock the grocery shelves, and deliver our mail. And let's think about those who come to our aid, like nurses, firefighters, and police officers. Thanks, and I wish everyone a happy and safe Labor Day weekend! Thanks everyone, Teri L.
