The new San Francisco Tower is also expected to receive a L EED Gold certification. It was designed to provide natural daylight in the offices and public lobby, and will include a roof garden, low - flow plumbing fixtures, energy - efficient HVAC systems, LED lighting, electric vehicle charging stations, sustainably pr oduced interior finish materials, and on - site renewable power generation through the use of photovoltaic panels. Chicago O'Hare's South and San Francisco will join Palm Springs and Oakland control towers, both commissioned in 2013, and already designated as LEED Gold. Palm Springs Tower has a newly - installed photovoltaic system generating an average of 32,000 kilowat t hours of renewable energy each month since the system came on line in March 2015. Also, Oakland Tower features geothermal heating and air conditioning, solar panels, and a rainwater collection system that gathers water from the roof and uses it to water landscape outside the tower. As we design new facilities with green features, we're also making similar improvements at existing ones. For instance, at Northern California TRACON, we added a large number of solar panels, sustainable landscaping, and energy - efficiency upgrades to the building. The improvements have reduced the facility's energy usage by almost 50 percent and water usage by more than 50 percent. At Southern California TRACON, we've partnered with San Diego Gas & Electric on three major energy efficiency projects, including interior and exterior lighting replacements, mechanical system upgrades, and installation of a photovoltaic solar array. We have projects like these planned for more facilities throughout the country. As we move forward, I look forward to seeing great results. Teri L.
