The Fruits of NextGen Collaboration
Hi everyone. Last week, I was in Memphis attending the m eeting of the NextGen
Advisory Committee (NAC). The NAC is a 28 - member federal advisory committee that
provides advice to the FAA on our NextGen efforts. We discussed the progress we're
making toward our four NextGen priorities: Increasing the availability and use of
Performance Based Navigation, improving surface operations, implementing Data
Communications, and making multiple runway operations more efficient.
We believe, and industry agrees, that focusing on these capabilities will produce
the most benef its for aviation in the near term. Last fall, we submitted a NextGen Joint
Implementation plan to Congress, detailing commitments by the FAA and industry to
deliver benefits in these areas in the next one to three years. With industry, we also
stood up the NextGen Integrated Working Group (NIWG) to focus on the execution of
