Neither Kristin Danninger, a controller at Madison Tower in Wisconsin, nor the pilot that would later desperately need her help could have foreseen the events that were about to unfold. "N6085M called in distress with zero visibility and requested help to get back into VFR conditions. Kristin's ability to quickly assess the situation and pro- vide assistance based upon previous pilot reports, in addition to successfully using her knowledge of the geographic area to orient the pilot, were ultimately the difference between heroics and tragedy.
