11 H O N O R A B L E M E N T I O N 'This save made by Christopher Foust personifies the work done by air traffic controllers all across this country and is a shining example of a dedicated professional whose commitment to the safety of our nation's air travelers is second to none. "Christopher was working the busy local control position at BWI on an evening shift as all the lights were turned up at the airport, making it tricky for pilots to identify runways and taxiways. On this evening, a corporate jet mistakenly began to depart on a taxiway head- ing the opposite direction into a taxiing air carrier, carrying dozens of passengers. Christopher acted immediately to instruct the pilot to cancel his takeoff, averting what was sure to be a disaster. "Christopher's quick actions are a testament to his vigilance in dealing with unusual and sometimes frightening situations that are sure to occur in a very fast moving and complex air traffic system. His excellent response is the hallmark of a professional always poised to make the difference in a life-or-death scenario. I am proud to represent such a fine NATCA member."
