17 'On October 8, 2007, Steve Walsh demonstrated the calmness and professionalism required of an air traffic controller when a pilot in distress called in for help. Steve was able to use his years of experience working aircraft to come up with a plan for this pilot, directing him towards the airport where he would have the best chance to land his aircraft safely. "A calm reassuring voice can go a long way when dealing with a pilot in distress, especial- ly when the pilot is not instrument rated and must enter the heavy cloud cover in order to descend to the airport. Steve became the pilot's eyes that day, directing him through the clouds and towards the runway, until the pilot broke through the clouds and successfully landed the aircraft at Plattsburgh International Airport. "I am honored to represent Steve and all the other air traffic controllers in the New England Region." Mike Robicheau New England Regional Vice President
