25 H O N O R A B L E M E N T I O N 'On November 16, 2007, Bruce Snoddy and Bill Jacobs were working the Del Mar and Palomar radar sectors combined in the Southern California TRA- CON, which is unfortunately becoming the norm due to the dismal state of staffing inside the facility. "When the pilot of N39494 reported that she was lost and needed help, the two veteran controllers immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation and took steps to safely guide the distressed pilot to a safe landing. The team work and professionalism demonstrated by Bruce and Bill is exemplary and is what we in the ATC profession refer to as, 'Just another day on the job.' "The controllers' reassuring and calm tones in responding to the pilot helped to calm her down and get her to focus on flying the airplane rather than panicking and losing control. "I am so very proud of my fellow controllers and friends Bill Jacobs and Bruce Snoddy." Hamid Ghaffari Western Pacific Regional Vice President Ronda Schnoor, Falcon Tower Jim Bryant, Northern California TRACON Thomas Gurule & Jill Hoffman, Honolulu Tower
