NATCA SUBMITS PROPOSALS REGARDING CLEARANCE RELAY AND IRF FLIGHT PLAN CANCELLATIONS On June 13, 2016, NATCA submitted proposals regarding Clearance Relay and IFR Flight Plan Cancellations. This issue is part of the Flight Services National Init iatives, under which the Agency is reducing the service provided by Lockheed Martin Flight Service. Currently, Flight Service relays clearances to pilots via telephone at airports that lack direct radio communications with Air Traffic Control or Flight Ser vice. Flight Service also relays cancellations of IFR flight plans from pilots to air traffic control. Upon adoption of this change, pilots will obtain a clearance and have the ability to cancel IFR flight plans via telephone by calling the appropriate air traffic facility directly. A collaborative NATCA - FAA workgroup known as the Flight Services National Initiatives (FSNI) Collaborative Workgroup has been involved in implementing this change. POCs: NATCA Article 48 Training Representative Tom Adcock, NATC A Weather Article 48 Representative Matt Tucker, En R oute Technology Coordinator Mark Prestrude, Terminal Technology Coordinator Bill Geogh a gan, and Assistant Director of Labor Relations Nicole Vitale.
