PHOTO ALBUM : We were so fortunate to have four members of the NATCA
family working as photographers during convention – Douglas Jones, Jay Tilles, Johnny
Temple, and Justina Hlavka. They worked morning, day, and late into each evening in
San Diego, enabling us to provide incredible visual coverage of this succ essful and
unifying convention. We invite you to check out their work as part of our Flickr site . As

FULL CONVENTION WRAP - UP COVERAGE: The Communications
Departm ent will provide a complete wrap - up of the convention in the NATCA Insider on
Friday, Sept. 9 , which, like all issues of the Insider, is emailed directly to you. Included
will be a link to our new members - only video channel, where the Information Technolog y
Committee and Multimedia Specialist Chris Ray are busy setting up a new page where it
will make viewing the videos quick and very easy and enjoyable, particularly from your
mobile device. We will have Days 1 and 2 videos from the convention available on Sept.
9. Day 3 video won't be ready until the week of Sept. 12.
FROM THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS SHOP
We have been very busy juggling many upcoming events and press opportunities.
A rundown of scheduled events :
TAMR/STARS: The FAA is holding an internal celebra tion event on Sept. 15 to
mark the successful Segment 1 implementation. NATCA President Paul Rinaldi is
scheduled to attend along with our project representatives.
TAMR/STARS press events: Possible national event in the planning stages.
Local events at My rtle Beach and Amarillo are being planned as well.
DataComm - Joint Press Event With FAA: Sept. 27 at Dulles Tower. A second
event, at JFK Tower, is in the planning stages as well.
San Francisco: The FAA is planning a press event on Oct. 11 to mark the
o pening of the new SFO tower.
Las Vegas: FAA plans to do a press event to mark the new LAS and L30 facilities'
opening is still TBA. Likely October.
Tuscon: Sept. 23 is the likely date for an FAA - led press event to mark the new
tower opening there.
Tulsa : Sept. 23 is also the date for an FAA press event to mark the r e - opening of
the tower in Tulsa. Our members there were forced to work out of a temporary tower for
the past several months as unsafe working conditions forced repair work in the main
tower.
NATCA SUPPORTS STABLE, PREDICTABLE FUNDING FOR THE NAS
We must be engaged to shape our own future. When the future of the air traffic
control system is debated, Congress needs to know where NATCA stands. Watch our
