TRISH GILBERT NAMED TO RTCA DRONE ADVISORY COMMITTEE : Executive Vice President Trish Gilbert has accepted an invitation from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to serve on the newly established RTCA Drone Ad visory Committee (DAC) and join a wide array of key aviation stakeholders. We issued a press release on Sept. 8. From the release: " The DAC is tasked with a very important mission: Safely integrating Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the National Airspa ce System (NAS). ' NATCA has worked collaboratively with the FAA and stakeholders on safe integration of UAS and we're looking forward to continuing that strong collaboration by participating on the DAC,' Gilbert said. ' We support the many benefits of UAS i n the NAS but integration needs to be done safely and methodical ly, and as swiftly as possible.'" To rea d the full release, please click here. MORE FROM THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS SHOP Upcoming events and press oppo rtunities: Tucson : Sept. 23; an FAA - led press event to mark the new tower opening there. Tulsa: Sept. 23 is also the date for an FAA press event to mark the re - opening of the tower in Tulsa. Our members there were forced to work out of a temporary tower for the past several months as unsafe working conditions forced repair work in the main tower. DataComm - Joint Press Event With FAA: Sept. 27 at Dul les Tower. A second event, at JFK Tower, is in the planning stages as well. San Francisco: The FAA is planning a press event on Oct. 11 to mark the opening of the new SFO tower.
