We'v e reaffirmed many times that people are at the heart of everything we do. Again and again, our people step up, and help us innovate. They work in teams to produce great outcomes that support our mission to ensure the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world. The recipients of this year's FAA and DOT awards are the latest examples of how our people are going above and beyond. The Washington , D . C . Metroplex team received the DOT Secretary's Team Award this year. They did the groundbreaking work th at became the standard template for the subsequent metroplex team s across the country. For nearly five years, industry, NATCA , and the FAA worked to resolve tough issues and developed a strong team bond. Their work culminated in the design and implementati on of scores of more fuel efficient air traffic procedures in the D . C . Metroplex. Three ATO employees received the Secretary's Excellence Award this year: Victor Naso, Steve Nelson , and Lucretia Britt. Metroplex Coordinator Victor Naso contributed greatly to the Florida Metroplex during the early phases of planning and development. He was commended by the San Diego Airports Authority Manager for his work on a complex obstacle evaluation study with sensitive legal implications. Vic's excellent and detailed w ork ethic ha s greatly improved flight safety within the NAS. Steve Nelson, Aeronautical Information Specialist in Mission Support, played a vital role in the creation of the first quadruple simultaneous approach, as part of the
