INTRODUCTION TO 115TH CONGRESS
Members newly elected to Congress are in Washington, D.C., for their New Member
Orientation during the weeks of Nov. 14 and 28. The new 115th Congress will convene
at the beginning of January with President-Elect Donald Trump entering the White
House. There will be many new faces in Congress, with both the House and Senate
remaining in Republican control. GA staff plans to visit all new members' offices on the
first day they are sworn in with NATCA material.
Political Outlook: Republicans will now have much more leverage in the new
year given they will have undivided control of the White House, the Senate, and the
House of Representatives. However, there could be challenges with passing any
partisan bills due to a 60-vote threshold required in the Senate. Stay tuned for more
information on President-Elect Trump's priorities for the beginning of his term, which will
set the agenda for the 115th Congress.
