During the holiday season, we often receive reminders to be more grateful, joyful, thankful , and mindful of those in need. One such reminder is a popular quote from Helen Keller: " I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do somet hing; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do. " This season, I ' d like to encourage our federal employees to consider supporting the FAA ' s 2016 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). CFC is an opportunity to " do someth ing " to make a difference in others ' lives. With your donation, you can help fight hunger, homelessness , or disease. Or you can donate to save the environment or to help protect some of our country 's most vulnerable citizens – at - risk youth, the elderly , o r wounded warriors. Your donation can help survivors rebuild after war or natural disaster, or it can help provide valuable services to underserved communities. There is no shortage of causes, and more than 18,000 participating local, national , and interna tional charities can benefit from your donation. Supporting veterans is a cause that ' s near and dear to my heart. I hope you ' ll find one that ' s near and dear to yours. Regardless of the amount you give or the cause you support, every donation adds up. We can always contribute to charity on our own, and many of us do. Yet, CFC offers federal employees the unique experience of combining their financial pledges to support eligible non - profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits. The ca mpaign is the largest workplace giving program in the world, and over the past 55 years, federal employees contributed more than $8 billion through regional campaign efforts across America and overseas. Also, with participation in CFC, we can be assured th at all charities have been properly vetted. Most importantly, when we give through CFC, we do it as the FAA community. You can elect to make a one - time gift, set up an employee payroll deduction , or support one of our FAA fundraising events . You can also process your donation using Employee Express and Nexus . Donations to CFC are tax deductible and, of course, completely voluntary.
