Cybersecurity is an important priority for our nation. There's a lot of concern about the protection of our personal and private data. Certainly cyberattacks can also potentially disrupt service in the NAS, which has been designated as critical infrastructure by Pres idential Executive Order, requiring greater protection. This includes protection from a myriad of different threats such as intrusion from outside sources, insider threat, attacks in the Radio Frequency and Satellite spectrum, and the possibility of inadve rtent downloading of viruses into NAS systems. To reflect a sharper focus on cybersecurity , we rebranded our National Enterprise Operations directorate into the new NAS Security and Enterprise Operations, or NASEO, this past October. Richard Morgan, acting director of NASEO, serves as the ATO's cybersecurity executive. He represents the ATO on the FAA's Cyber Steering Committee (CSC), which includes agency executives from NextGen, Security & Hazardous Materials Safety and Aviation Safety, and the DOT's Chief Information Security Officer representative. The CSC meets monthly to identify cybersecu rity priorities and develop strategies that affect the whole agency. This way, we can marshal all of our resources against cyber threats and communicate responses across the agency more effectively.
