Miller, who succeeded Sullivan as FacRep. "I am a byproduct of Matt's leadership and
guidance. He taught me the standard of what was expected of me as a leader. Matt

importance of making people feel valued for their contributions as well as appreciated for

becoming rare in our society.

ANNIVERSARY (1987 - 2017) : Our Year - Long Celebration
Last Week's F eature: NATCA's First National Elections
The Union's first national election campaign took place after the 1988 Convention in
Atlanta. Steve Bell was elected the first NATCA president and Ray Spickler the first
executive vice president. At the regional l evel, several interim regional representatives
retained their seats, but the 1988 election brought five new faces, forming the first
elected National Executive Board. The NEB met for the first time after the election on
Sept. 12, 1988 on the eighth floor o f MEBA headquarters in Washington, D.C. Later that
month, they would present the Union's first contract proposal to the FAA. Read the full
