QUICK REFERENCE Congress should not try to balance the budget on the backs of federal employees by making cuts to their wages and benefits. Pay freezes, hiring freezes, and furloughs continue to take a toll on federal employees, as sequestration threatens to return this year. NATCA members are essential to maintaining the safety and efficiency of our National Airspace System and should be protected from attacks on federal employees. NiW Today n i w . n a t c a . n e t HOW THIS ISSUE AFFECTS NATCA MEMBERS: The vast majority of attacks on federal employees are Congress's attempts to balance the federal budget by cutting federal employees' pay and benefits. No matter what the issue — increased health care contributions, increased pension contributions, "high three" to "high five" calculations — all result in reduced take-home pay for federal employees and negatively impact workforce morale.
