GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT CONGRESSIONAL SCHEDULE The House and Senate are in session for the week of May 22. During the week, NATCAvists are in town for the annual "NATCA in Washington" lobbying week. NATCA IN WASHINGTON NATCAvists came to Washington, D.C. for this year's annual lobby week starting on May 22. Activists heard from several speakers during the week, including Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL) and Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH). During the conference, activists traveled to Capitol Hill to request members of Congress to sign onto letters to the chairmen and ranking members of the appropriations committees requesting full funding for the FAA in FY 2018. The letters are being lead by Reps. Knight (R-CA) and Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) on the House side, and Sens. Inhofe (R-OK) and Warner (D-VA) on the Senate side. We expect FY 2018 to be a very tough budget year, so the timing of the lobby week was impeccable, as full funding for the FAA is a priority. In his testimony, Rinaldi reaffirmed NATCA's position on the need for a stable, predictable funding stream as the Committee continues its work to provide a long-term reauthorization for the FAA. The committees of jurisdiction in both the House and Senate have been holding hearings on the subject in advance of the deadline. So far, neither the House nor the Senate has released a bill to reauthorize the FAA. House T&I Chairman Bill Shuster said that he would like to move an FAA reauthorization bill out of the House before the summer recess in August. On the Senate side, Senate Commerce Chairman John Thune wants his committee to
