SAFETY AND TECH NOLOGY DEPARTMENT SURVEY - TRAINING : The FAA over the next year will be reviewing many aspects of air traffic training, including proficiency a nd skill enhancement training. One goal is to identify training topics that may need to be updated, while invest igating new and more effective methods in program delivery. Your participation in completing the linked survey conducted by the FAA ' s Center of Excellence for Technical Training and Human Performance will assist them in identifying the topics and delivery methods to be examined. The purpose of this survey is to gather opinions on how IFR and VFR traffic is handled at your facility. The goal at this time is to gather baseline information on the current c ulture, attitudes, and behaviors related to managing potential IFR/VFR conflicts. The plan is to provide a follow - up survey in about a year, to assess changes in attitudes or behavior related to IFR/VFR conflicts. Please click this link to take the survey: http://s urvey.sogosurvey.com/r/bmp5mY NATCA Safety & Tech Upd ate Week of August 14 , 2017 AIRSPACE TE CHNICAL DEMONSTRATION 2 (ATD - 2) Pete Slattery (CLT) represents the membership as the Articl e 114 Representative for ATD - 2. His report for is below. During the m onth of July NASA conducted another ATD - 2 Remote Demo for FAA a nd Industry personnel. These on line meetings are held periodically and are designed to keep all stakeholders advised of the progress that is being made with the project. These meetings also kee p interested parties generally informed about how the system is expected to work in the operational environment once it goes live in September of this year. I participated in this demo remotely and answered a few questions about how the system fit into our current way of doing things and how I thought it was going to help us do our jobs more efficiently in the future. I was able to speak about the potential benefits of ATD - 2 from a more informed perspective since the system has been in CLT tower for a few weeks now and we have been observing how it works and how it can be used in conjunction with current FAA systems to more effectively manage surface operations at this airport.
