coworkers - who may be climbing tall towers , operating heavy machinery or watercraft ,
working with high voltages in even higher temperatures , or e victing bees from a hive .
These twice - yearly Safety Stand Down events bring Tech Ops employees, managers ,
and union representatives together for open discussions to identify health and safety
issues they encounter in the workplace - and work to resolve them. Please click here for
more information on Safety Stand Down events taking place this time around - as well as
success stories from previous Stand Down events and materials for hosting your own
event.
Since we started the Safety Stand Down program, we've learned t hat verbal
communications - peer - to - peer, employee to manager, or in a team setting such as
these events - have the most immediate results when it comes to managing safety risk.
But other feedback opportunities like Unsatisfactory Conditions Reports (UCRs) or an
email to leadership can serve to bring important attention to workplace conditions that
need improvement.
You are the most important component to your local workplace's safety culture. By
co mmunicating about hazards and recognizing safety best practices, we ensure that
we're not just spectators when it comes to our co - workers' - as well as our own - health
and safety. Thank you for the difference you make, and please remember to submit
nomina tions for the DASHO Safety Award by November 15.
Thanks everyone!
