WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM FAA ATO COO TERI BRISTOL
Dec. 22, 2017
Oh, What Fun It Is to Fly in an ATO-run Airspace
Hi everyone.
This is the season when so many people across the national airspace system will travel
far and wide to be with family and friends. Holiday trips tend to be for matters of the
heart, making them all the more special. I love that the ATO plays a key role in making
these festive reunions possible.
We are seeing an increase of more than five percent in the number of operations this
holiday season over last year. Our coworkers will be working behind the scenes to
ensure that passenger air travel is safe and as efficient as possible during this crunch
time. Travelers don't usually think about the people who are managing air traffic,
maintaining equipment and modernizing our National Airspace System, because they
know they are in safe hands. You all do an incredible job.
Please be sure to keep yourselves safe, too, whether you're working this holiday,
spending time with your families, or simply relaxing. I hope this is a time of joy and
gratitude for all of you. As we reflect on all that we have to be grateful for, this is also a
great time to renew our efforts to help those who aren't as lucky and are facing some
real struggles and challenges.
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) provides us, as federal workers, a coordinated
way to multiply our generosity by donating money or time to our favorite charities.
CFC is a one-stop shop where we can support many non-profits devoted to a wide range
of causes that are dear to us, whether it's finding a cure for a particular disease,
providing shelter and health care for veterans and the homeless, assisting hurricane-
devastated communities, or caring for an abused pet.
Organizers have made it easy to set up a payroll deduction or to donate a one-time gift. I
am glad to see that they added a way to donate volunteer hours to charities. This year's
campaign slogan is "Show Some Love." The deadline is Jan. 12, but since contributions
are tax deductible, you might want to consider making yours before the end of the year.
You have been so generous in years past, and I hope you will be able to continue in that
spirit again this year. Visit the CFC website to research charities and make a donation.
There are also some fun ATO-wide events planned that I hope you'll participate in.
Please contact your keyworkers to get more information about your local CFC campaign.
Thanks everyone for your generosity! Happy holidays!

Making It Look Easy Takes Hard Work
Hi everyone,
