LABOR RELATIONS DEPARTMENT FAA BRIEFING ON ONE HOPE UNITED CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER On June 14, 2018, the Agency briefed NATCA regarding its decision to return to the General Service Administration (GSA) the space currently occupied by One Hope United Child Development Center (One Hope United) located in the FAA's Great Lakes Regional Office in Des Plaines, Ill. At the briefing, the Agency explained that the FAA currently pays the lease for One Hope United, and due to low federal employee enrollment, has decided to return that space to the GSA. The GSA ultimately will determine whether One Hope United remains open. In addition, lead and asbestos have been identified in the building, causing them to switch to bottled water and requiring water monitoring. The GSA will decide by the end of June whether it will continue operating One Hope United. If it decides to close it, parents, including three FAA employees, will be notified in July. The Agency will notify NATCA as soon as the GSA makes its decision. POCs: Director of Labor Relations Ryan Smith, Jennifer VanRooy, and Labor Relations Attorney Suzanne DeFelice.
