imported into STARS and initial comments are good. SMEs who have never seen ARTS 3E colors agree that these colors are easier to distinguish between levels. TAMR NATCA Training submitted by Ross Costa (RSW) Rossano Costa (RSW) spent most of the month traveling to IOCs and working on creating a team to review the demo of AT Prepare. AT Prepare is a Raytheon platform designed to replace AT Coach scenario building by allowing for more efficient tools in the scenario development process. The team is scheduled to meet next month to review the product and provide input. The AT Prepare input will be made by members of both small and large facilities. It will also include OSF and other strategic partners. Mr. Costa traveled to Wilmington, N.C. (ILM), as a floorwalker for their IOC on STARS. The transition went off without any issues. The OSF team did a great job with the adaptation and the controllers on-site were well-trained and prepared for the transition. Mr. Costa then travelled as a floorwalker to Kalamazoo (AZO) for the first part of the 804 transition of consolidating five facilities into AZO. The first part of the transition was Grand Rapids (GRR) and Muskegon (MKG) radar control room into AZO. This is part of a very complex transition plan. Again, all teams involved did an amazing job preparing for this transition. It was very smooth with minimal issues. The preparation by the sites was amazing. Finally, Mr. Costa travelled to Washington, D.C., for a TAMR Implementation Summit. The team will be reviewing the path forward for TAMR to include, but not limited to, training, deployment, and sustainment activities. TAMR Software/Hardware submitted by Kyle Ness (M98) TAMR Operating System - Mr. Ness traveled to the OS day presentation at the Raytheon campus in Marlborough, Mass., on May 29. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the STARS Operating System transition from Oracle Solaris to Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The transition strategy includes all TRACONs/RAPCONs, ATCTs, training and support strings, and support systems at SCSC and OSFs. Oracle Solaris extended support ends January 2021 and if the STARS operating system is not replaced by that date, it will severely impede and eventually preclude TAMR/FAA from sustaining STARS and implementing NextGen technology. Moreover, the STARS system will be at greater risk of cyberattack. Significant topics included the R1 development schedule, training, site prep, and technical details such as disk partition strategy. A significant change for air traffic will be the availability of a new simulation tool called AT Prepare. NATCA SMEs will travel to Raytheon in mid-July to view a demonstration of the new product. Operational Testing and Evaluation (OT&E) - NATCA SMEs from A80, D01, SCT, and NCT traveled to Raytheon to participate in an early user assessment of the R10 software build. Events like these provide NATCA an opportunity to get a first-hand look at the software changes before the build is delivered to the FAA for formal integration and testing. Items reviewed included: • Approach Runway Verification (ARV)
