PM-9.2 RECOGNIZING EMPLOYEES On July 22, the Agency briefed NATCA regarding revisions to PM-9.2 Recognizing Employees. The revisions are intended to align the policy with the Agency's INSPIRE program, which seeks to maximize the effectiveness of employee recognition. The Agency will initiate Spot Awards, which are smaller cash awards. Managers can use these Spot Awards to recognize employees for their contributions throughout the fiscal year, rather than waiting to the end of the fiscal year to provide a larger cash award. The program also promotes peer-to-peer recognition of employees, by encouraging non-managers to express gratitude to their co-workers by awarding each other certificates of appreciation, notecards, etc. During the briefing, in response to NATCA's questions, the Agency clarified that it will provide the necessary materials and duty time for those BUEs who wish to recognize their co-workers by preparing certificates of appreciation or notecards. The Agency also stated that, although the number of cash awards will increase, the Agency's budget for those awards will not increase. The result will be that smaller cash awards will be awarded to a larger number of people.
