NATCA NATIONAL OFFICE DEPARTMENTAL UPDATE August 19-September 29, 2019 LABOR RELATIONS DEPARTMENT STARS AND ERAM EVALUATION EXPANSION On Sept. 13, the Agency briefed NATCA regarding its intent to expand its site evaluations of STARS and ERAM security controls. The Agency is engaging in these evaluations pursuant to recommendations from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) that the Agency establish an integrated, organization-wide approach to manage information security risks. The Agency began the evaluations in the last few months with STARS at Jacksonville TRACON (JAX) and ERAM at Jacksonville Center (ZJX). The Agency will conduct the same evaluations at Denver TRACON (D01) and Denver Center (ZDV) the week of Jan. 27, 2020. The Agency will work with NATCA to ensure that the assessments would have minimal or zero impact on air traffic control. After the Agency completes its assessments at these Denver-area facilities, it intends to create a waterfall schedule to evaluate information security risks in additional systems.
