work is continuing to address the concerns of the ERC and should be completed by Jan. 17, the new response date. 2019-009 AIRMETs - Work continues correcting the issued outlined in the CAR. Interim guidance is being developed to provide direction on the proper dissemination of AIRMETs. Also, there will be actions the Agency will be required to take to integrate the dissemination of AIRMETs, in ERAM, that looks similar to how SIGMETs are handled. 2015-010 - There is an outstanding issue with the CAP on protecting the critical area contained in the CAP. The wording issue should be corrected soon, and the CAR closed. AIRs (ATSAP Information Request): 2019-011 3-9-7b. 3 - This AIR was issued by the ERC and should be responded to by the due date. The response will clarify the confusion regarding the use of visual separation in the touch-and-go and stop-and-go traffic. Emergency Autoland - Emergency Autoland (EAL) is an automated system that Garmin is working with the Agency to certify. The system is designed to land an aircraft at an airport in the event of a pilot incapacitation. The system will take over control of the aircraft and land it at the best suitable airport. Two live tests were completed in Kansas City Center's airspace and landed at Garden City airport. The test results demonstrated that the system's design was not optimal for air traffic and the ATO. Time was spent sending issues back to Garmin for correction prior to certification. An SRM panel will be scheduled and held to identify hazards associated with the introduction of this new technology into the NAS. Opposite direction work continues on clarifying when opposite direction no longer applies when aircraft are conducting a circling approach to another runway. Initial guidance was not in alignment with what the ODO workgroup put together. Further work is continuing to correctly clarify the rule.
