SUGGESTED WORKSHOP TRACKS D I D Y O U K N O W ? Senators serve six-year terms and Representatives serve two-year terms. via government-and-constitution.org Q HOW TO ADVOCATE FOR THE PAC REGENCY D • 10:00 am Instructor: Steve Weidner, NATCA NLC Chairman Learn how a political action committee (PAC) works, including the NATCA PAC. Attendees will learn how to educate and advocate to others on behalf of the NATCA PAC. This is NOT a solicitation for the PAC. Why should I attend? You will learn the history of, as well as some lesser-known facts, about the NATCA PAC. You will also learn the basics on how to become a better advocate for the NATCA PAC. Q PRACTICING THE "ASK" COLUMBIA FOYER • 9:00 am With NATCA NLC members National Legislative Committee members will be on hand to help activists practice the "ask" and get ready for meetings on Capitol Hill. This exercise is designed to be fun and informative. Activists can stay as long as they feel they need to prepare themselves for congressional meetings. Why should I attend? This workshop allows NATCA activists to sharpen their skills and practice taking a meeting with a member of Congress or their staff. This class is lead by experienced NLC members who will offer different techniques to make meetings easier and more productive. Q Q & A WITH PAUL AND TRISH REGENCY A • 9:00 am With NATCA President Paul Rinaldi, NATCA EVP Trish Gilbert, and NATCA Special Counsel to the President Eugene Freedman Rinaldi and Gilbert will give an update on the current state of NATCA's legislative efforts, including stable funding, the AIRR Act, staffing, etc. They will conclude the course with a question and answer session. Why should I attend? NATCA's leadership will address NATCA members' questions about NATCA's current legislative direction and obstacles that our Union faces. Congress 101; Congress 102; Hatch Act | This is the most basic track for activists who are brand new to NATCA's legislative efforts. Q&A (Stable Funding); Facility/State Coordinator; Beyond NATCA in Washington | This track is intended for experienced activists who are interested in expanding their involvement in positions of leadership within NATCA's legislative efforts and also using this information to motivate fellow activists at their facilities. Congress 101; Congress 102; Facility/State Coordinator | This track is recommended for fairly new NATCAvists. At the conclusion, they will be able to take this information and use it to expand their involvement in positions of leadership for NATCA's legislative efforts. Beyond NATCA in Washington; Congress 101; Congress 102 | This track will allow NIW veterans to focus on legislative procedure and process, with an emphasis on taking this information back to their facility and motivating their fellow activists to get more involved in NATCA's legislative efforts. Q&A (Stable Funding); PAC; Hatch Act | This track is recommended for experienced activists and will allow them to focus on subjects that are critical for NATCAvists to know, such as the rules and regulations that govern PAC activity and Hatch Act violations. 7
