emphasized the importance of international cooperation as we keep pace with aviation innovation and growth in the Latin American and Caribbean regions. NextGen technologies play a crucial role in this effort to keep pace. Since 2010, controllers have been using Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast to safely separate and manage aircraft flying over the Gulf of Mexico. Air traffic controllers can now handle ten times the amount of air traffic over the Gulf as they could previously. This year, one of our goals was to develop ways for Caribbean regional air traffic service providers to more efficiently exchange air traffic data and establish more common situational awareness. The FAA and the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation established a joint Air Traffic Flow Management Data Exchange Network for the Americas, called CADENA, which fittingly, means "chain" in Spanish. The Caribbean is a chain of islands, and we're also trying to link up more effectively, so the acronym works on two levels. We plan to stand up a recurring operations conference call for the region by the end of the year. This will allow regional air traffic providers to engage in collaborative decision making so we can better balance air traffic demand with capacity. Additionally, this will complement our related effort to share air traffic flow management data in the region using System Wide Information Management, beginning with Trinidad and Tobago in early 2017. As things move forward, we will incorporate the airlines and other airspace users to the operations call. As we lead these international efforts, we're making global aviation safer, more efficient and more environmentally friendly. Thanks everyone, Teri L. Bristol
