• Ensure that NATCA members are fully protected in their employment relationship. • Maintain safety and efficiency as the top priorities within the NAS. • Establish a stable, predictable funding stream that adequately supports air traffic control services, staffing, hiring and training, long - t erm modernization projects, preventative maintenance, and ongoing modernization to the physical infrastructure. • Protect our dynamic aviation system that provides services to all segments of the aviation community, from commercial passenger carriers and cargo haulers to business jets and general aviation, from the major airports to those in small communities and rural America. HELPING OUR MEMBERS AFFECTED BY RECENT HURRICANES Hurricane Maria last week was the third major hurricane in four weeks to h it areas home to hundreds of our NATCA family members. Wind, rain, and flooding have caused unbelievable damage, particularly for our 110 brothers and sisters in the six NATCA - represented facilities in the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. The damage is seve re, and there is a need for supplies and assistance. It is a top priority to get the San Juan airport up and running effectively to accommodate urgently needed relief and humanitarian flights. Dulles Plane Pull : On Saturday, Sept. 23, a team of 25 NATCA members went to Washington Dulles International Airport to pull a 164,000+ pound airplane – a United Airlines 737 - for charity at the Dulles Plane Pull . Our team move d the plane a few feet in about six seconds. We did it to honor the incredible, enduring strength of our brothers and sisters impacted by the relentless hurricanes in the Southe rn & Southwestern regions and we invite our members to join us in giving to the NATCA Disaster Relief fund.
