SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT SURVEY – TRAINING The FAA over the next year will be reviewing many aspects of air traffic training, including proficiency a nd skill enhancement training. One goal is to identify training topics that may need to be updated, while in vestigating new and more effective methods in program delivery. Your participa tion in completing the linked survey conducted by the FAA ' s Center of Excellence for Technical Training and Human Performance will assist them in identifying the topics and delivery methods to be examined. SURVEY – IFR/VFR CONFLICTS ATO's Safety and Technical Training group (AJI) has been asked to assess the effectiveness of awareness campaign materials related to IFR/VFR conflicts. The purpose of this surve y is to gather opinions on how IFR and VFR traffic is handled at your facility. The goal at this time is to gather baseline information on the current culture, attitudes, and behaviors related to managing potential IFR/VFR conflicts. The plan is t o provide a follow - up survey in about a year, to assess changes in attitudes or behavior related to IFR/VFR conflicts. Please click this link to take the survey: http://survey.sogosurvey.com/r/bmp5mY NATCA Safety & Tech Upd ate Week of Nov. 6 , 20 17 AIRPORT CAPACITY DECISION SUPPORT TOOL (ADEST) Kristen Laubach represents the membership as the Article 114 Representative for ADEST . Her report is below. Airport Capacity Decision Support Tool (ADEST) team had a slow month. There was one telcon an d programmers briefed us on the ongoing maintenance of ADEST. Certain background feeds are being updated and as a result, ADEST also needs to be updated to continue to receive data. An update to flight schedules and aircraft types has been implemented an d programmers are now working on the NOTAM feed to insure ADEST receives the most current NOTAMs . AIR TRAFFIC PROCEDURES (AJV - 8) Andy Marosvari (BOI) is the Article 114 Repre sentative in the AJV - 8 Office . Mr. Marosvari forwarded the summary below for th is update. Many of the changes in the 7110.65 X, effective Oct. 12, 2017, were NATCA - initiated or generated by other offices with extensive NATCA involvement. There were several Safety Risk Management Panels (SRMP) held through the month on changes that were worked on throughout the year with more panels upcoming in the next few months.
