NATCA NATIONAL OFFICE DEPARTMENTAL UPDATE February 17 – March 2, 2018 OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL Information about National Officer Election and National Representative Election (1) Election of National Officers (President, Executive Vice President, and Regional Vice Presidents) for 2018-2021 Term The 2018 election for NATCA's President, Executive Vice President, and Regional Vice Presidents is underway. The Notice of Election and Election Rules were sent to members' home addresses in early January 2018. Nominations for these offices are due to the National Office no later than 5:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, March 30, 2018. Members interested in nominating candidates should read Section 2 of the Election Rules carefully to ensure that their nominations conform with all applicable rules. Nomination acceptances are due to the National Office no later than 5:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, April 30, 2018. Candidates accepting nominations should read Section 3 of the Election Rules carefully to ensure that their acceptances conform with all applicable rules. Ballots will be distributed to the membership on Monday, June 25; must be returned by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Monday, July 30; and will be counted on Tuesday, July 31. Any member with questions about the 2018 NATCA National Election is encouraged to contact any member of the NATCA National Election Committee (contact information is on the NATCA website) or NATCA General Counsel Marguerite L. Graf (mgraf@natcadc.org). (2) Election of National Representatives from Six Region X Units and the Flight Service Unit for 2018-2020 Term On Thursday, February 15, the Notice of Election, Election Rules, and Request for Nominations for the 2018 NATCA National Representative Election (for approximately 400+ members in the Flight Service Unit and the following six Region X units: Drug Abatement Inspectors and Investigators, Aircraft Certification Services, En Route Automation, Terminal Automation, Airports, and the Office of Chief Counsel) will be mailed to the home addresses of members eligible to vote in this election. Nominations for the National Representative from any of these six Region X units and the Flight Service unit are due to the National Office no later than 5:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, March 30, 2018. Nomination acceptances for National Representative from any of these six Region X bargaining units and the Flight Service unit are due to the National Office no later than 5:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, April 30, 2018. Ballots will be mailed to members in these six Region X units and the Flight Service unit on Tuesday, May 15; must be returned to the designated P.O. box by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Thursday, June 14; and will be counted at the NATCA National Office on Friday, June 15.
