Organization and System Operations Services as well as Technical Operations and Air Traffic. Yesterday, I was in Oklahoma City meeting with the teams that examine the safety data we collect from our Voluntary Safety Reporting Programs and look for solutions. Last week, I visited the Air Route Traffic Control Centers in Los Angeles and Oakland, California. I was pleased to see so much training taking place, since that is a big priority for the ATO. We've done a great job of hiring, especially controllers, but we want to make sure they get the training necessary to become fully certified in a timely manner. I marvel at the work our organization does. Oakland Center (ZOA) alone controls air traffic for nearly 10 percent of the world's surface and interfaces with 21 different foreign and domestic facilities. Los Angeles Center (ZLA) provides the initial sequence to two of the busiest airports in the country, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I enjoyed talking to the folks who are handling that and the technicians who maintain all of the equipment and systems needed to make that happen. Also, earlier this week at the annual conference of the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA), I participated in a fireside chat as well as a panel with aviation industry representatives and other stakeholders on the importance of collaboration. The demands on our national airspace system are changing every day, and we all have to be transparent about our expectations so we can handle the tough challenges ahead as we integrate new systems and technologies along with new entrants. What's really important is that no matter what our individual role is, we must work together and coalesce around our critical mission of providing the safest, most efficient airspace system. Thanks for everything you do! Now if I could only get that ditty out of my head, "Baby Shark, doo-doo-doo-doo-doo- doo, baby shark…" Ch-ch-ch-changes – Bristol Welcomes Input on New Communication Vehicles Hi everyone, We've all changed the way we get information. We might still tune in to the evening news and have a newspaper delivered, but we also get alerts on our phone, posts in our social media feeds and updates from apps. We don't rely on a single source any longer. That got me thinking about how I could update the methods I use to communicate with all of you to make sure you get information in a format that's useful to you.
