December 9-15, 2019 Update ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES & OCEANIC PROCEDURES (ATOP) John Lenhart (ZOA) is the Article 114 Rep for Advanced Technologies and Oceanic Procedures (ATOP). His report is below: The ATOP Program required travel for the complete month of November. Below is the combined review for November and December. ATOP TR2 - ZAN and ZNY are up and operating on the ATOP TR2 software and hardware. ZOA is scheduled for the beginning of January 2020 and is in the process of solidifying area configuration and scheduling for integration. ATOP Rapid Recovery - ZNY had a recent ATOP dual channel failure that led to the oceanic areas being down for over two hours. This incident leads to the decision to expedite and prioritize Rapid Recovery for ATOP, which was originally slotted for a post-2022 drop. Rapid Recovery takes the human error factor out of ATOP recovery and brings ATOP and all of the appropriate flight data up in an estimated eight minutes. In the procedural environment this all but replaces the current contingency. FOTO 2035 - A group focusing on the future of oceanic operations has been initially assembled focusing on future concepts, equipment, visions, and opportunities. More to come as development takes place. Top ATOP Issues being Worked - • 56196: Enhanced Trial Probe for OOC Position Reports (CHI demonstration). • 50981: Need a way to enter CPDLC reported PIREPs. • 52339: Auto Populate Airspace Reservation with SIGMET Info. • 51586: Weather Deviation Follow Up to 51050. • Air Traffic Failure Mode Enhancements. • Enhanced Conflict Probe for Surveillance Airspace. Other Issues - • 58212: Immediate conflict displayed after CDP clearance o Issue marked Critical by ZOA September 2019 o Priority lowered to Patch, with agreement (Sept. 26) • FDN has subsequently been worked and Approved o Problem: non-CDP clearances can be issued via the CDP window. o Solution: don't allow non-CDP clearances when CDP is ineligible. o Improved feedback via the new message "CDP Ineligible." o The "CDP-Cancel" button will no longer be colored according to the returned conflict result (green/red). It will be colored grey, matching the appearance of the Reset and Close buttons. o The Send button will be greyed out and cannot be selected. • 58213: Enhancement ADS-C Simulation functionality
