THE DELEGATE 8 FRIDAY • OCTOBER 3, 2014 Second Harvest Heartland 2harvest.org A member of Feeding America, Second Har vest Heartland is the largest hunger relief organization in the Upper Midwest. Their goal is to help hungry people throughout the region. In 2012 alone, the organization collected, warehoused and distributed over 76 million pounds of food. Second Harvest owns over 90,000 square feet of dry, refrigerator and freezer space throughout the area. They are constantly accepting and distributing donations with a fleet of trucks that travel almost half a million miles a year, picking up food and delivering it to local food shelves, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, senior community centers and children's aer school programs. The Foundation organized a food drive contest to benefit Finnegans Community Fund. Each of the ten NATCA regions participated. Here are the results as of press time on Thursday.
