WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM ATO COO TERI L. BRISTOL NextGen in Atlanta Hi everyone. I'm in Atlanta this week to attend a meeting of the NextGen Advisory Committee (NAC), a federal advisory group with m embers from industry, labor, and government that promotes collaboration and provides input on our NextGen implementation effo rts. Meeting in Atlanta provided a good backdrop for the NAC, as NextGen is making a big difference at major airports like Atlanta' s Hartsfield - Jackson. Being the world's busiest airport, the benefits we provide here have a positive impact on our entire airspace system. Let me give you a few examples. Atlanta is one of 13 locations around the country where we've safely red uced wake s eparation standards. With this change, Hartsfield - Jackson can land ab out five more planes per hour. Delta Airlines is saving between $13 - $18 million in operating costs annually, and saving as much as two mi nutes of taxi time per flight. Considering that Ha rtsfield - Jackson has about 2,400 flights a day – this sav es hours per day in taxi time. It makes scheduling much more predictable for bo th the airlines and passengers.
