to discuss data exchange requirements, and collaborated with Air Traffic Managers and
NAT CA on operational requirements.
Beyond processing Part 107 authorizations, we aim to have LAANC include Part 101
notifications u sed by modelers and hobbyists at the initial sites in early 2018. We're also
seeking out additional industry partners as we move towards beta - testing this system
nationwide.
Our success with LAANC is a testament to the smart minds and hard work of ATO
emp loyees and is further evidence that government and industry can collaborate to
maximize resou rces and ensure public safety.
Thank you to the employees of the PMO, Air Traffic Services, and Mission Support who
helped to make LAANC a reality. While there is still work to do to fully integrate UAS into
the NAS — the future is bright, due in large part to your efforts.
In closing this week, I'd like to recognize the thousands of ATO employees who are
veterans of the U.S. armed forces. Their sacrifices are the f oundation of the safety and
freedom that all Americans enjoy, and while we pause to salute our veterans' dedication
to their military mission, we should also take note of their dedication to the safety of our
nation's airspace. We are a better organization because of them.
Thanks everyone, and have a safe holiday!
