NATCA Impact NATCA has continued to advocate for full funding for the FAA in our relevant Congressional appropriations bill (THUD). As THUD appropriations bills move forward in the House and Senate for FY 19, GA staff will closely monitor the proposed funding levels and share updates. LEGISLATIVE WATCHLIST In addition to executive actions from President Trump, members of Congress have and will continue to introduce anti - federal employee bills, including those that would attack the use of official time and negatively impact federal employee pay and benefits. Additionall y, Government Affairs staff is keeping a close eye on any congressional hearings that relate to our membership. The House Committee on Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions is holding a hearing titled "Enhanci ng Retirement Security: Examining Proposals to Simplify and Modernization Retirement Plan Administration" on May 16. NATCA Government Affairs will closely monitor this hearing. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is holding a hearing t itled "Workforce for the 21st Century: Analyzing the President's Management Agenda" on May 16. NATCA Government Affairs will closely monitor this hearing. PUBLIC AFFAIR S DEPARTMENT GRACE COLBY JOINING THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS TEAM NATCA is pleased to announce that Grace Colby, NATCA's Executive Administrative Assistant, has been selected to fill the Associate Director of Public Affairs, Special Events position. Grace joined NATCA in February 2014 as the Executive Support Specialist and then took over the posit ion of Executive Administrative Assistant in January 2015. During her time working in the Executive Office, Grace has been involved in assisting with many of the annual and special events that NATCA either puts on or participates in during the year while a lso serving in the primary support role for the national officers. Grace's background and experience will serve her well in her new position in the Public Affairs department, and NATCA is looking forward to the dedication, energy, and creativity she will b ring to her new role. Grace's move into Public Affairs will become official no later than July 1. BY THE NUMBERS The Professional Standards program is in its eighth year and continues to have a positive impact on the professional ism of controllers nationwide. The program has 530 active members, with a total of over 820 trained to serve as committee members representing every facility in the National Airspace System. Committee members receive training on communication skills an d co nflict resolution during a three - day course taught by NATCA. The next clas s will be held at ZID, May 15 - 17.
