SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT A IR TRAFFIC REQUIREMENTS (AJV - 7) James Keith (D10) is NATCA's Article 114 Re pr esentative to the AJV - 7 Office. His update for this report is below. Attended SRM panel on the remote tower in Leesburg, V a. live testing. The panel found no additional risk from the previous panel that was done for the passive testing phase. The test p lan for live testing is an incremental test beginning with one aircraft and ending the test 12 - 13 weeks later with up to six aircraft. The remote tower will be staffed with RVA controllers and will be backed up with a mobile tower staffed with RVA controll ers. The mobile tower will have the capability to step and take over immediately if needed. Offshore Precipitation Capability (OPC) : Weekly meetings continue on this. Everything is on track to have OPC in Houston and Miami Centers June 29th. Terminal CH I T eam : Terminal CHI team attended the first phase of terminal work package one concept demo and has been engaged by TBFM to start some CHI work on that program . The CHI team was featured in the FAA/Focus this month. Terminal Work Package 1 : TWP - 1 went to IARD (Initial Assessment Readiness Decision) . This is the step in the process where the agency decides to fund the program to mature the concept to become fiel d ready. Terminal work package one is now under TAMR. Long Range Radar : A ttended an initial mee ting to prepa re for the SRM in a few weeks. The purpose of the panel is to identify any risk if Long Range Radar no longer provided primary and only beacon. Short Range Radar : There are several differ ent workgroups on this subject. The agency is looking a t what , if any , short - range radars can be removed and can secondary radar be removed in some locations after 2020 when ADSB should be fully deployed. AIMM SIG 3 : The digitization of LOAs, SOP s, flight cha rts, approach plates, and etc. AI MM SIG 3 is moving toward IARD. I will keep you posted on this. Advanced Interval Management : T he workgroup has continued t o meet to finalize the conops. The paired approach piece of this is now working to develop conceptual tools necessary on the radar scope to en sure sep aration is maintained. ERAM M odernization S eparation T ools : I was briefed on this a couple of weeks ago. An A rticle 7 briefing and a briefing to the NUT are scheduled at the en d of May and beginning of June. I will have more to report after those briefing s.
