• The majority of wo rk has been in the HF side of the HP triangle. • The human factors office activities include: o The new certification standards work at N90 is entering the vetting stage starting the 22nd of February. Mr. Barrett will be attending the first of four sessions wh ere 8 - 10 controllers and FLMs will vet each of the individual qualification standards. After the four groups have finished , there will be a complete set of training standards that will be used in two areas in N90 starting in June. They cannot start earlier due to transition to STARS in May. o The teamwork training workshop has taken shape with an outline and the team should be working on putting substance to it next month. o The individual training provided to an L30 controller at the request of the WSA ERC has almost completed and the L30 FLM will help document the process so the team will have that tool in their toolbox for further use in the system. All reports indicate that the training provided had the desired affect of increasing the controllers scanning a nd conflict recognition as well as building co nfidence in the ATCS's ability. The team has received a similar request from the WSA ERC to help an ATCS at ZLC with a vi gilance or attentiveness issue. o This team is tentatively scheduled to visit C90 on Februa ry 29 to perform a HF assessment of their training, operation , and teamwork. o A briefing was given to the NTSB on what the HP office is doing. This briefing went well and resulted in the team being invited to a runway incursion incident in FLL to participat e as team members. This investigation went well and areas of concern were identified among the RAP investigators. The HPT will be working closely with the NTSB in an attempt to help them ask HF questions and to soften their investigation style and approach . o The team has been asked to provide a follow up review of the HCF training program and assist them in implementing recommendations from a training review team that included Tom Adcock (NATCA National Training Representa tive). o The HPT will also be doing a training assessment of ZNY and proposing solutions to help them incorporate H F into their training program. Mr. Barrett believes this will involve OJTI and FLM HF workshops as well as an assessment of their training st andards. This may end up developing a product similar to that which the team is undertaking at N90. o PFS content this month will be on vigilance. • The Health and Wellness activities: o No activity here this month. NEXTGEN: Kevin McLaughlin (SCT) is the National Nex tGen Representative for NATCA. H is report for this week is below. • Mr. McLaughlin assumed the duties of NATCA National NextGen Representative on 1/1/16, replacing the previous Representative Mel Davis, who retired having served in the role since 2 009. o It has taken a herculean effort to e ven try to step into that role and attempt to maintain the momentum and level of organizational expertise that were the hallm arks of the preceding six years.
