WARP to be d eployed. The schedule is still looking to install at ZTL by the end of June , and if ERAM EAD500 is operational then , the new WARP mosaic would be turned on to ERAM. If the facility is not on EAD500 , the old WARP mosaic will still be operational until the ERAM upgra de is complete , then it will be just a flip of the switch to display the new Mosaic. The n ew Mosaic will change the weather display from a 4km resolution to a 1km resolution and an update rate from 5 - 10 minutes depending on the scan mode of the NEXRAD and t he site coverage to between 25 sec onds to a minute depending o n the NEXRAD mode and coverage. • Old WARP Display • NEW WARP Display • Common Support Services – Weather (CSS - WX) • The preliminary design review (PDR) was held at Harris the end of January. CSS - WX will be the data collection and distribution part of NEXGEN Weather systems. It will also be the data provider for all FAA systems that need either m odel or real time weather data. o The system will have t w o major nodes being ZTL and ZLC. Some of the issues that ca me up during the PDR are bandwidth and the requirement to collect information from NO AA and distribute it as needed. o The biggest product that will be imported is the High Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR), which is updated every hour and some of the aviation pr oducts update every 15 minutes. o The hourly update is about 4 gigabytes in size and is split into four parts. Discussions are ongoing to decide which products in the HRRR will be automatically pushed and wh ich will be user request items. o The Critical Desi gn Review (CDR) is schedule in June so a number of questions will have to be answered and resolved prior to the CDR so Harris can move forward. This program has a deployment timeframe of late 2018 - 2019. • Collaborative Aviation Weather Statement (CAWS) o CAWS wi ll start being produced for this year ' s operational demo on March 1st. o There has been a change in the process . T he CAWS will only be created when the CCFP is not accurate and it will only show the areas where the CCFP is not correct. o Last year there was a lot of confusion on how the CAWS and CCFP worked together. o This year CAWS will supplement the CCFP in areas of inaccuracy. This should make the product much more useful f or traffic management purposes. o The training for this year has also be en incorporated into ELMS , as last year it was only done through the CDM portal and a number of facilities did not get trained. • Met with Kathy Heet (AJT - 2 ). Jennifer Post (AJT - 1) was out of the office and did not attend. o The purpose of the meeting was to brief Kathy on the NEXGEN Weather processor and CSS - WX and the impact these products could have all automation platforms as far as weather mosaics are concerned. o This is being looked at as the end state solution for the loss of weather data on t erminal displays in areas exceeding the ASR coverage.
